Welcome to my June updates newsletter. It's getting colder, at least here (I live in Australia). Perfect for curling up and reading a book, or getting some writing done.

Earlier this month, I attended Pop Fest Townsville. Which went well, and I sold some of my first paperback books in person. I also picked up a couple of indie books from other writers, and some nerdy stuff. (I still can't pass up some good Pokemon merch, lol.)

I’ve also been working on the second book in the Pink Punch series, and this is going well. I’ve typed up just over 10k words on the first draft on my freewrite typewriter. Which is a super-great tool, especially for me, as I’m far too easily distracted by the internet if I do my writing on a full sized actual computer. (And writing things out, well, then I have to contend with my handwriting…)

What I’ve been Reading…

This month, I've started rereading the Hunger Games. With the announcement that both a book and a movie for the Sunrise on the Reaping is coming out next year, I decided it was a good time for a reread. I’ve just finished the first book, and was thinking 'huh how young was I when I first read this because I remember it being more violent.' And then I got to the chapter with the pack of mutts. Yikes. Whenever I think some YA I'm writing might be too violent, or something says 'YA shouldn't be too violent', I always think of this series.
