I’ve got some great news. I have finally got my book in an actual bookstore!

If you live locally in Townsville, Australia, Arcane Books has just opened in Kirwin. It’s a nice little shop with a great atmosphere. They stock a lot of fantasy and romantasy, as well as indie titles. And, or course, local authors.

Some of the other local authors from my writing group and I are going to be doing a signing/author talk there on Saturday, December the 7th! It would be great to see anyone from the local area there. This is super exciting for me, as I’ve never done this before, and honestly, I’m not sure what to expect. But should be heaps of fun anyway and I’m looking forward to it.

Writing prompts

Here are some writing prompts for you if you’re looking for a bit of inspiration.

• You find a weird coloured mushroom in the punnet you bought from the supermarket, but, feeling that anything sold in a supermarket couldn’t possibly be unsafe, you eat it anyway. That evening, when you go out into your garden, you see something hidden among the flowers that was not there yesterday.
• Your weird aunt, who you assumed was into cosplay, dies mysteriously, but leaves you one of her costume swords. It appears to be rather high quality, with a faint glow. Inside the package is a card, which reads “Careful if you choose to wield this. They will sense it, and they will come, but I know you’ll be able to handle them.”
• There’s a weird ice cream truck that keeps driving through your neighbourhood. No matter how hard you or your friends try, it won’t stop when you flag it down, and you’ve never seen it handing out ice cream. One day, you and your friends decide to follow it.
